Why Area Codes Are Needed to Dial

Why Area Codes Are Needed to Dial

July 16, 2020 was the day that area codes became so important to the phone calls we make today.

People started to wonder why we have to now dial and area code before making a call to a family member, stores or anyone’s personal phone. The number 988 is such an important number to the mental health community, texting this number or even calling this number will get you immediate help. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States.

The National Suicide Hotliine used to be a 10 digit number, making it hard for people to remember or dial during an important time, hence why the simple easy number of 988 was created, we all remember the “emergency number” 911, so it is simple for people to have this crisis hotline in an immediate time.

If you are having any suicidal thoughts or in need of emotional support and help please reach out and call or text “988”.

Your life is so important and the world needs you here, not everyday will be an amazing day but it is helping you grow as a human, there is always rain before a rainbow.

I am always here as an ear to listen to you, I will never judge and will talk to you no matter what.
